Aliéksey Vianna was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1975. After studying guitar in Brazil as a teenager, Aliéksey moved to the U.S. on a scholarship to study at the University of Arizona with Thomas Patterson and continued his studies with David Tanenbaum at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, graduating in 2001.
While a student, Aliéksey was awarded first prize in many prestigious guitar competitions and established an international reputation as one of the finest young guitarists of his generation.
During his career, Vianna has performed with orchestras, string quartets, and other ensembles throughout the world, in addition to giving solo performances and lectures at many international venues and festivals. Among many others, he has played with Pierre Boulez, Paul McCandless, Peter Erskine, and Tracy Silverman.
Aliékseys breadth as a soloist, with repertoire that includes classical, jazz, and music from his native Brazil, gives him a unique presence among his peers.
