Lewis A. Richmond, composer and pianist, was born in Riverside, California in 1947. He began playing and composing at the age of six. His first premiere of a short string quartet was performed by the Griller Quartet when he was eight years old. He studied composition with Wayne Bohrnstedt of Redlands University and leon Kirchner of Harvard. He studied piano with Russell Sherman of New England Conservatory and Edward Steuermann of Julliard. He received his bachelor's from Harvard in 1967.
In the early 1970's he served as a Buddhist priest and meditation teacher. He is currently vice-president of Smith and Hawkins, Ltd, of Mill Valley where he lives with his wife and son.
