Regina was ten years old when she received her first guitar as a gift from her grandfather. She began to write songs soon afterwards.
Herclassical study with Henrique Pinto in São Paulo began in 1978, lasting six years. During this period she met Cristina Azuma and from the pleasure of their playing together, three compositions for two guitars,Valsa, Canção, and Amar were born.
She studied composition at the UNICAMP University in São Paulo, and moved to Holland in 1986 where she studied Renaissance and Baroque lutes, Baroque guitar, and the orbo (a 17th century lute) with Toyohiko Satoh at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague until 1993.
Presently she plays in many ensembles including Icarus, Collegium Musicum Nederlandensis, Amarilis Consort, and Companhia Vocalis — giving concerts throughout Europe, Japan, and Brazil.
